Welcome to Positively Skalina!!!

Who’s Who?

Megan (Mom/Mama Bear) grew up in fairly big and unconventional, blended family in Scottsdale, AZ, graduating from Desert Mountain High School. She then attended the University of Arizona and then ultimately moved back up to Scottsdale. She was married for three years and in those three years had Mikayla and Alexis. She and her now ex-husband divorced in 2010 and Megan began her career in the medical field. It wasn’t until recently that Megan chose to leave the medical field and is now pursing a new career path with fellow Desert Mountain graduate in the world of podcasts and digital marketing.

Ari & Megan
a.k.a Dad & Mom

Ari (Dad/Papa Bear) is a U.S. Army Veteran and a licensed master in social work. He currently works full time as a behavioral health clinician at a non-profit agency here in Phoenix, AZ and specifically works with children ages 6-18 years of age. He is very into sports, specifically the University of Arizona Wildcats, the New York Giants, the New York Knix and of course the New York Mets. He is an avid chess player and when theres time and money available he has been known to play poker (so not often 😉).He’s an only child, and grew up in Tucson, AZ. He moved to Phoenix in order to stay in Sophie’s life in 2011 when he separated from his now ex-wife.

Ari and Megan met in late 2011 on eHarmony.com. They ended up getting married in 2013 and have been happily perfecting the art of their marriage and their roles as parents/step-parents and co-parents. Deciding to start this blog was something that we decided to do on a whim.  Not only will it allow Megan the opportunity to practice more of what she does everyday on her new career path, but it will allow us to talk about things that maybe others wouldn’t necessary talk about. We hope that you enjoy our family and our journey along with us as we try our best to paint a very authentic and real picture of what it’s like to be in a “not so smoothly blended family” as our youngest daughter Lexi would say.

Mikayla (Kaylie)| 11

Hi my name is Mikayla, I would prefer it if you call me Kaylie as it’s only Mikayla Jennifer when I am in trouble 😇. Somethings that you should know about me are, that I absolutely love to sing, I have been singing since I was 4 years old. I love drawing, painting and making videos. I also love to reading, fashion and helping others. 🎤🎼🎨

Sophie| 10

Hi there! My name is Sophie. My parents are divorced so I go back and forth between my Dad (Ari)’s house and my mom’s house. It’s fun being a younger sister and an older sister when I am at my Dad’s house, but I also enjoy being an only child when I go to my mom’s house. I like to dance, write, draw and play with my dolls. When I grow up I want to be an architect. I absolutely love anything that has to do with Paris 🇫🇷

Alexis Jane  (Lexi)| 9

Hello, my name is Alexis Jane or Lexi, you can call me either. My little brother Dylan and my sister Sophie call me Lou Magoo so that works too!!! Hey that rhymes! I am probably the feistiest of the Skalina kids, but not in a bad way. Let’s be real here people sometimes I get a little bit hangry (you know you do too), and I definitely am a kid that needs my sleep! As long as I am fed and well rested though I am super energetic and helpful. I love to bake, sing, draw and write! I am hoping my parents will let me start my own YouTube channel so that I can bake and make slime for all to see!

Rusty (the Dachshund) & Dylan (6)

Bonjour! My name is Dylan and the dachshund in the picture is my dog Rusty!!! I am in kindergarten and my sisters say that I am weird because my favorite part of school is homework. I am a big time mama’s boy and my Mom and Dad say that sometimes I am too smart for them. When I grow up I want to be a military police officer so that I can help capture miscreants!!! You may be wondering if it’s my Mom or Dad deciding what to say for this about me section, but it’s really me telling my mom what to type, and you should know that my favorite word is miscreant and I love to read and draw!!!
